Deuteronomium 25:3

SV	Met veertig [slagen] zal hij hem doen slaan, hij zal er niet toedoen; opdat niet misschien, zo hij voortvoere hem daarboven met meer slagen te doen slaan, uw broeder dan voor uw ogen verachtelijk gehouden worde.
WLC	אַרְבָּעִ֥ים יַכֶּ֖נּוּ לֹ֣א יֹסִ֑יף פֶּן־יֹסִ֨יף לְהַכֹּתֹ֤ו עַל־אֵ֙לֶּה֙ מַכָּ֣ה רַבָּ֔ה וְנִקְלָ֥ה אָחִ֖יךָ לְעֵינֶֽיךָ׃ ס
Trans.	’arəbā‘îm yakennû lō’ yōsîf pen-yōsîf ləhakōṯwō ‘al-’ēlleh makâ rabâ wəniqəlâ ’āḥîḵā lə‘êneyḵā:

AC	ג ארבעים יכנו לא יסיף פן יסיף להכתו על אלה מכה רבה ונקלה אחיך לעיניך
ASV	Forty stripes he may give him, he shall not exceed; lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.
BE	He may be given forty blows, not more; for if more are given, your brother may be shamed before you.
Darby	With forty [stripes] shall they beat him; they shall not exceed, lest, if they continue to beat him with many stripes above these, thy brother become despicable in thine eyes.
ELB05	Mit vierzig Schlägen mag er ihn schlagen lassen, nicht mehr; damit nicht, wenn er fortführe, ihn über diese hinaus mit vielen Schlägen zu schlagen, dein Bruder verächtlich werde in deinen Augen.
LSG	Il ne lui fera pas donner plus de quarante coups, de peur que, si l'on continuait à le frapper en allant beaucoup au delà, ton frère ne fût avili à tes yeux.
Sch	Wenn man ihm vierzig Streiche gegeben hat, soll man nicht weiter schlagen, damit er nicht zu viel geschlagen werde, wenn man ihm mehr Streiche gibt, und damit dein Bruder nicht verächtlich gemacht werde in deinen Augen.
